MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered police protection and immediate intervention after an 11-year-old girl from Camarines Sur appealed directly to him for help, alleging abuse and threats linked to a barangay official.
The President said he was “very angry” upon reading the child’s letter and moved swiftly to ensure the safety of the girl and other children under the care of a non-profit group in Tinambac, signaling urgent action on the allegations.
The girl, currently sheltered by Redeemer Homeless Mission, wrote a letter dated March 30 detailing alleged abuses in their community and seeking protection.
In her letter, she accused the son and aide of a barangay kagawad of sexually assaulting one of her peers in incidents that occurred in 2022 and 2023. She also alleged that the victim became pregnant and was later taken away, where the pregnancy was reportedly terminated.
She further claimed that the barangay official had threatened them and committed acts of harassment, including damaging property and disrupting their daily lives.
“We are kids, we are not involved in your political parties. I just want to go to school without being raped,” she wrote.
The letter was later posted online by Redeemer Homeless Mission, drawing public attention.
In response, Marcos said the appeal deeply affected him and prompted immediate action.
“Your letter has reached me and brought me close to tears and made me very angry,” the President said. “I am sending policemen to you and your sisters to protect you and to find anyone who has hurt any of you.”
He also assured the girl that she would be able to continue her education safely and commended her courage.
“You are a very brave, intelligent and very kind girl and I will make sure to help you and your sisters in any way you need,” Marcos said./PN
