BACOLOD City – As the year ends, a mall in Barangay Mandalagan managed to hold on to its occupancy permit, which was facing revocation due to the establishment’s “deficiencies.”
Office of the Building Official (OBO) head Isidro Sun Jr. put the revocation “on hold” after the mall installed several required facilities.
The deficiencies CityMall has complied with include restrooms for persons with disabilities on the ground floor, railings at the stairs and on the second floor Atrium, second-floor plan, and plumbing fixtures, Sun said.
But the mall still lacks a mechanical as-built plan, a sewage treatment plant, a cistern, and a rainwater collection tank, the OBO head said, citing a report from the office’s inspectors dated Dec. 20.
According to the inspectors, CityMall promised to comply with the remaining deficiencies “on before Jan. 15, 2017,” Sun said.
In November, the OBO issued CityMall an occupancy permit — some lacking facilities notwithstanding — after the latter promised to comply with its deficiencies within 30 days.
But by December, the deadline passed, and the lacking facilities remained uninstalled.
Sun threatened to “suspend or revoke” the occupancy permit of CityMall if the establishment fails to explain why the permit should not be cancelled.
In an undertaking signed by its project-in-charge in November, the mall said it was “willing to have its permit of occupancy suspended” if it cannot comply with its deficiencies within the time promised./PN
