ANTIQUE – A 53-year-old man was recuperating at a hospital after he was hacked during a heated altercation at a drinking session in Barangay Cato-ogan, Tobias Fornier town on Thursday night, February 20.
Captain Charles Richard Casalan, chief of the Tobias Fornier Municipal Police Station, said the victim identified as alias “Jobert” allegedly joined an ongoing drinking session uninvited. Already under the influence of alcohol, he reportedly caused a commotion, which led to an argument with the 48-year-old alias “Alex.”
Tensions escalated, prompting Alex to leave the scene. However, as Jobert was heading home, he was allegedly waylaid and attacked by the suspect. The victim sustained hack wounds to his left shoulder and back.
Police recovered from the crime scene a 20-inch bolo believed to be the weapon used in the attack.
Emergency responders from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) quickly transported the victim to President Diosdado Macapagal District Hospital before he was transferred to Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital for further treatment.
The suspect meanwhile was arrested and detained at the Tobias Fornier police station. He will be charged with frustrated murder./PN
