BACOLOD City – A 56-year-old man was shot dead on Thursday morning in Sitio Proper, Barangay Macasilao, Calatrava town.
Benedicto Tapang Asarze, a resident of the barangay, was on his way to buy medicines when an unidentified suspect peppered him with bullets.
Investigation disclosed that the victim was waylaid by three men wearing bonnets. One of them pulled out a .45-caliber pistol and shot the victim multiple times.
Asarze sustained gunshot wounds on his body. He was rushed to Calatrava District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police recovered 10 empty shells from the crime scene.
As of this writing, police is investigating the case to determine the motive of the killing and identify the suspects./PN
