ILOILO – A 30-year-old man was shot and killed in broad daylight in Barangay Cato-ogan, Pototan town on Sunday afternoon, May 25, prompting a swift police operation that led to the arrest of one of the two suspects just hours later.
The victim, identified only as alias “Ken”, was gunned down at around 3:30 p.m. following what police believed to be a heated misunderstanding. Residents alerted authorities immediately after the gunfire, prompting an urgent response from the Pototan Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Initial investigations by Pototan police identified two suspects: aliases “Pula”, a resident of the town’s Barangay Ledesma Ward, and “Pagi” of Barangay Cato-ogan.
Acting on witness accounts and gathered evidence, police launched a hot pursuit operation. By 8 p.m., the team led by Pototan MPS officer-in-charge Captain Jersey Besas successfully apprehended Pagi in Cato-ogan.
Meanwhile, authorities were still tracking down Pula, who remained at large as of this writing.
Pototan MPS has vowed to continue the manhunt and ensure that both suspects are brought to justice.
“This successful operation underscores the IPPO’s unwavering dedication to apprehending criminals and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” said Police Colonel Roland V. Bulalacao, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO).
Police further urged the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspect./PN
