BACOLOD City – A man was wounded after allegedly trying to shoot a responding operative from the 65th Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) during a scuffle in Purok Coscouela, Poblacion 2, Sagay City, Negros Oddicental.
Delmar Amparo, 18, was a resident of the place.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office spokesperson Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo said the 65th PNP-SAF received a report of a brawl in the village.
The PNP-SAF personnel tried to break up the fight. However, Amparo allegedly went home to get a firearm and attempted to shoot Police Staff Sergeant Melvin Latoza.
Latoza managed to dodge, pulled his service firearm and shot Amparo.
Amparo was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Latoza, meanwhile, was placed under investigation./PN
