Manggahan 2023 ‘generally peaceful’

GUIMARAS – The Manggahan Festival 2023 was “generally peaceful”, according to the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO).

GPPO director Police Colonel Richard B. Baluis said since the “Imbukada”, or festival opening, up to the highlights yesterday, there were no untoward incidents.

“Masasabi ko na generally peaceful ‘yong ating pag-celebrate dahil wala tayong mga major incidents, na pwede nating ma-connect sa lapse ng security. May mga minor [incidents] pero nandiyan kaagad ang ating mga kapulisan,” said Baluis.

He added: “Since Friday, ‘yung full alert status sa buong probinsya ng Guimaras, and for the last three weekends, we have not recorded any major incidents na ma-connect natin sa festivity,”

Hundreds of police personnel and force multipliers were deployed to secure a safe and peaceful Manggahan Festival.

“As of today, meron tayong 350 police personnel together with force multipliers and still counting, kasi may mga volunteer groups na nag-present ng kanilang intention na tumulong pero yung 350 na iyon sufficient na,” Baluis added.
