MANILA – Manila Water said Friday it would study the development of a potential water source east of the capital, as it moved to alleviate a supply shortage.

Manila Water and Prime Metroline Infrastructure Holdings will form a technical team to conduct “technical due diligence” on the Wawa Bulk Water Supply project under their recently signed memorandum of understanding, the water utility told the stock exchange.

Ayala-led Manila Water said a potential agreement with Prime Metroline would be subject to the approval of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.

The administrator of the MWSS, Reynaldo Velasco, said earlier this week that Manila Water would soon sign a joint venture agreement with billionaire Enrique Razon for a new dam. (ABS-CBN News)
