MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s public trust rating fell to 34 percent in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey, widening the gap with Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio, who maintained a significantly higher 57-percent trust rating ahead of the President’s fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The June 2026 nationwide survey, commissioned by Stratbase Group and released Monday, showed that 34 percent of Filipinos expressed “much trust” in Marcos, while 45 percent said they had “little trust” in the President. Another 19 percent remained undecided.
The latest result marked a slight decline from Marcos’ 35-percent trust rating in the March 2026 survey. Historical SWS data also showed a continuing downward trend from the President’s 64-percent trust rating recorded in July 2024.
In contrast, Duterte-Carpio’s trust rating remained unchanged at 57 percent, the same level she posted in March 2026. The survey found that 27 percent of respondents had “little trust” in the Vice President, while 15 percent were undecided.
The latest figures underscore the Vice President’s continued lead over Marcos in public trust, with her ratings remaining relatively stable over recent survey rounds, generally staying within the low- to high-50-percent range since late 2024.
The survey results were released just days before Marcos is scheduled to deliver his fifth State of the Nation Address on July 27 at the Batasang Pambansa, where he is expected to present the administration’s accomplishments and legislative priorities for the coming year.
SWS conducted the nationwide survey among 1,200 respondents. It has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points for national estimates and ±6 percentage points for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, all at the 95 percent confidence level.
The survey also measured public awareness of the country’s top officials, showing that 98 percent of respondents were aware of President Marcos, while 99 percent were aware of Vice President Duterte-Carpio./PN
