MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s net worth has crossed the P1-billion mark for the first time since he assumed office, soaring to P1.375 billion in 2024 — a sharp rise made public not by Malacañang, but by the Akbayan party-list, which released the President’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) on Wednesday amid renewed scrutiny of government transparency.
The 2024 SALN showed that Marcos declared P389.36 million in assets as of December 31, 2024 — P247.33 million in personal properties and P142.03 million in real estate holdings spanning agricultural, residential, and cultural properties.
An appraisal report attached to the filing pegged his total net worth at P1.375 billion, marking a significant jump from the previous two years.
In 2022, Marcos declared a net worth of P371.49 million, with appraised assets reaching P960.7 million. In 2023, he reported P381.45 million, while appraised assets climbed to P1.157 billion.
Akbayan released digital copies of the SALNs of several top officials — including Marcos, Vice President Sara Duterte, former president Rodrigo Duterte, and former Ombudsman Samuel Martires — as part of its continuing campaign for accessible disclosures.
The timing of the release comes as the administration faces heightened public pressure after Marcos ordered lifestyle checks on officials linked to alleged “ghost” flood-control projects.
The Office of the Ombudsman has also recently relaxed access to SALN documents, reversing restrictive rules imposed during Martires’ tenure.
Akbayan said the publication of these documents forms part of its broader push for “greater transparency in government and consistent public access” to the wealth disclosures of the nation’s highest officials./PN
