BACOLOD City – The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) will be inspecting the city’s first floating restaurant at the Sum-ag River.

City Administrator John Orola said the inspection should have been done this week but weather conditions are poor.

The inspection has been moved to Aug. 31.

Orola said the delay will allow the city government to secure other needed documents for the floating restaurant’s operation.

MARINA will, among others, check the sea worthiness of the restaurant.

Orola also disclosed that a bidding would be conducted to select the floating restaurant operator.

The city government hopes to have the restaurant blessed and inaugurated next month ahead of October’s 40th MassKara Festival.

The P3.4-million floating restaurant is capable of accommodating 30 people at a time. It will be plying the barangays Sum-ag, Cabug and Punta Taytay river route./PN
