MANILA – Ceres-Negros F.C. aims for its second straight victory of the 2020 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup when it faces Vietnam’s Than Quảng Ninh at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium here tonight.
The Busmen are currently on top of Group G standings with three points following its 4-0 victory over Camboadia’s Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng on Feb. 11. Bienvenido Marañón, Takashi Odawara and Joshua Grommen were the goal scorers of Ceres’ opening campaign game.
The Vietnamese club, on the other hand, suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Indonesian champion Bali United after its striker was waved off the pitch in the opening half.
In the history of the tournament, Ceres-Negros and Than Quảng Ninh haven’t met head to head but were both part of the 2017 edition, which the Busmen won its first ASEAN Zone title.
The first leg of the clash was supposed to be hosted by the Vietnamese football club. However, it was moved here since all sporting events there were not allowed by their government for the month of February.
