TYRESE Maxey delivered a game-winning layup with 1.3 seconds left to cap a 40-point performance as the Philadelphia 76ers rallied past Sacramento Kings, 113-111, in the 2025-26 NBA Regular Season on Thursday night (Friday in the Philippines) in Philadelphia.
The decisive sequence came after Kings’ DeMar DeRozan missed a potential go-ahead jumper with 5.2 seconds remaining. 76ers’ Joel Embiid secured the rebound, and coach Nick Nurse called timeout to set up the final play.
After an initial failed inbounds attempt, Kelly Oubre Jr. found Embiid at the top of the key. Maxey then cut from midcourt, took the pass, and drove to the basket for a left-handed layup.
Embiid finished with 37 points for Philadelphia, while George added 15 as the 76ers erased an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Sacramento was led by Dennis Schroder with 27 points and DeRozan with 25, but the Kings suffered their seventh straight loss after missing several key players due to injuries.
In Washington, Kyshawn George scored 23 points, Alex Sarr added a double-double of 16 points and 17 rebounds, and the Wizards beat the short-handed Milwaukee Bucks, 109-99.
Khris Middleton and Bub Carrington each added 13 points for Washington, which held a 61-43 rebounding advantage in its second straight win.
Myles Turner scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Milwaukee, while Bobby Portis Jr. and Kyle Porter each added 19 points for the Bucks, who are currently in 12th in the Eastern Conference.
Milwaukee’s two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is rumored to be traded out of the Bucks by the deadline next week, missed his second straight game with a calf strain.
In other results, Houston Rockets returned to their winning ways with a 104-86 victory over Atlanta Hawks, while Miami Heat escaped with a 116-113 triumph over Chicago Bulls./PN
