BACOLOD City – Mayor Mark Golez of Silay City, Negros Occidental said he made sure his fist would land not on Balaring village chief Remy Roldan but on a table in the barangay hall.
Roldan claimed Golez threatened to punch him twice after attending a program yesterday in Sitio Talaptap, Barangay Balaring, Silay City.
“Ang hana to ya nga tapungol, indi to ya para sa iya. Sa lamesa to ya nagtupa,” said Golez.
But the mayor admitted he got angry with Roldan for the latter’s “irregular” use of an air-conditioning unit in the barangay hall.
The unit – owned by a resident who refused to be named – has been used in the barangay hall for almost three months without a Deed of Donation.
Without the proper documents, Golez said it was wrong to continue using the unit especially that the city government pays for the village’s electric bill.
“I want to point out nga ang gin-ubra niya sala,” Golez explained.
Aside from the alleged attempted punch, Roldan claimed the mayor badmouthed him.
Roldan was a supporter of former mayor Jose Montelibano whom Golez replaced last year./PN
