Michelle Dee secures spot in Top 40 of Miss World 2019

WE did it, mga kababayan!”

Michelle Dee posted this statement on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday as she shared the good news about her securing a spot in the Top 40 of the Miss World 2019 pageant.

The 23-year-old daughter of Melanie Marquez was guaranteed a spot in the Top 40 after emerging as winner of the Head to Head challenge of Miss World, where candidates are asked to talk about their respective advocacies. During the group challenge, Michelle shared that her advocacy comes from having two siblings diagnosed with autism.

“It’s been such a proud moment for us today mga kababayan as we’ve officially secured a spot in the Top 40 through the Head to Head Challenge!” she wrote on Instagram Wednesday.

“Not just that but my ‘Beauty With A Purpose’ project made it to the final 20 as well!” she added, referring to the event, formerly known as Miss World Scholarship, which awards the contestant with the most relevant and important charity projects in her nation.

Michelle, who is aiming for a second crown for the Philippines after Megan Young in 2013, will be competing in the Miss World finals on Saturday in London. (Push)
