MANILA – Mina, Leganes and Pototan squads tightened their grip on the top spots of their respective brackets in the men’s basketball of the 2017 Biron Cup Inter-municipality Invitational tournament in Iloilo province.

Mina kept their unbeaten record after an 83-56 domination over New Lucena at the Mina gym and continued to lead Bracket A with a clean 4-0 win-loss slate.

In other matches in the bracket, Cabatuan captured its second win in four games by beating Bingawan, 74-56, while Janiuay scored 78-64 against Pavia to stay in the hunt for a quarterfinals berth.

Leganes and Pototan are still sharing the top spot in Bracket B (4-1) after disposing of their respective opponents at the Leganes gym. Leganes beat Alimodian, 80-76, while Pototan downed Santa Barbara, 63-58.

In the other match in the bracket, Oton trampled upon Miag-ao, 119-56.

In men’s volleyball, Maasin and Guimbal secured their quarterfinals seats in Bracket B after scoring separate victories at the Janiuay Plaza Auditorium.

Maasin was heavily tested before going out with a 25-17, 18-25, 25-17 victory against San Joaquin, while Guimbal swept the host team, 25-23, 25-22./PN
