BACOLOD City — A 7-year-old boy and two adults were wounded after a man allegedly fired several shots following a heated argument over a parked vehicle in Barangay 2, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on August 30.
The incident occurred at around 11:25 a.m. along Osmeña Street, according to the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station (MPS).
Police withheld the full identities of the victims. The two adult victims were identified only as alias “Mayang,” 37, a married woman, and alias “Boyet,” 64, a married man. All three victims are residents of the area.
The victims sustained gunshot wounds and were brought to the Hinigaran Medical Clinic for treatment. They were reported to be in stable condition.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a heated argument between Mayang and the suspect, identified as alias “Lino,” 52, over a vehicle owned by Mayang’s family that was parked along the roadside.
Lino, a job order employee of the municipal water district and a resident of Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, allegedly asked Mayang to move the vehicle slightly to give way to his vehicle.
The request reportedly led to an argument.
Based on the initial investigation, Lino allegedly went to his vehicle, retrieved a firearm and fired several shots, hitting the three victims.
Mayang was hit in the right hip, while Boyet sustained a gunshot wound to the right thigh. The minor was hit in the left ankle.
A pursuit operation was immediately launched following the shooting, resulting in Lino’s arrest.
