BACOLOD City — A minor was killed while his father sustained serious injuries after they were struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that allegedly overshot the roadside while they were cleaning a tricycle in Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred at about 8:20 a.m. on October 7 at Purok Taytay.
Police identified the SUV driver as alias “Marvin,” 39, married, a construction manager, and a resident of Pasig City.
According to a witness identified as alias “Gilbert,” a resident of the area, the victims were cleaning their tricycle beside the road when the SUV allegedly veered toward the roadside and struck them.
Personnel of the Kabankalan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately transported the victims to the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital for medical treatment.
However, the minor was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
His father, identified as alias “Lito,” 26, a poultry helper and resident of Purok Payong, Barangay Oringao, sustained serious physical injuries and remained under medical care.
The Kabankalan City Police Station took the driver into custody for proper disposition as authorities continued their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident./PN
