ILOILO City – The body of 41-year-old Ronie Elgario was found floating on Wednesday afternoon, nearly two weeks after he jumped off a modernized boat.

According to Commander Paterno Belarmino Jr., station chief of the Philippine Coast Guard-Iloilo, a ship’s crew informed them of a body floating approximately 800 meters away from the shoreline of Balaan Bukid in Guimaras Island and Ortiz Wharf in Iloilo City.

“Right away nag-deploy kita personnel on board sang rubber boat kag aluminum boat,” said Belarmino.

Elgario, of Barangay Corucuan, Igbaras, Iloilo, was allegedly facing a family problem. He jumped off a boat headed to Guimaras on Aug. 4.

“Actually pagkakita bloated na gid siya, halos indi na ma-identify. Sa t-shirt nga description sang family nag-match siya sa cadaver. So gindala to sa [Barangay] Bo. Obrero then gin-identify sang family. In fact, ginkuha na ini sang family niya,” Belarmino added./PN
