Model denies relationship with ‘PBB’ housemate Andre Brouillette amid viral kiss debacle

INTIMATE moments between Andre Brouillette and Lou Yanong inside the “Pinoy Big Brother” House have generated a buzz not just among their housemates but also on social media.

Their fellow housemates seemed uncomfortable seeing their public displays of affection, which started from hugging then kissing during one of the reality show’s pool parties after having consumed alcohol.

Aside from that, some netizens were also bothered by speculations that while Brouillette is showing affection for Yanong, he allegedly has a girlfriend outside the “PBB” house.

Brouillette’s supposed girlfriend, however, quickly refuted such talks on social media.

A report by entertainment site Push quoted Filipina model Elliah Ungson as saying that she and Brouillette are not a couple.

Push showed a screen capture of a conversation involving Ungson, where she denied ever being in a relationship with Brouillette.

Another screen capture which Push posted shows Ungson’s reply to a comment on her Instagram photo asking if she and Brouillette are currently together. “Hindi po,” answered Ungson.

In a previous episode, Brouillette and Yanong admitted having romantic feelings for each other.

The public displays of affection have sparked a debate not only inside the famous yellow house, but also among viewers on social media.

Their affectionate behavior, which started from hugging then making out, unfolded in front of the other housemates, who appeared uncomfortable at the sight.

The display of intimacy prompted a discussion among the housemates, notably Mary Grace Lagos and Fumiya Sankai, who agreed that while they are all adults who can make their own decisions, propriety should still be considered.

They asserted that Andre and Lou should have been mindful of their companions, who were just a few feet away from where they were kissing.

Mary Grace, the eldest in the batch, eventually approached the two and stopped them from kissing while in the pool. Andre and Lou, however, then went inside the house, leaving the rest of the housemates to discuss the situation in the garden area.

Kahit sabihin natin mag-girlfriend-boyfriend sila, this is not the right place,” Mary Grace said. “Wala akong karapatan na bawalan silang dalawa, kasi matanda na sila. Pero dito kasi, iba kasi ang setup.”

The youngest, 19-year-old Hanie Jarrar, meanwhile, did not appear bothered by his housemates’ affectionate behavior. In the confession room, he told Kuya: “We were all drinking pretty hard, me included. If it’s okay with Andre, and it’s okay with Lou, then I’m fine with it.”

On the morning that followed, Fumiya, a close friend of Andre, told the latter how the drunken intimacy had made most of the housemates uncomfortable. Andre, who has said he plans to ask Lou to be his girlfriend after they exit the house, appeared surprised by his own actions as narrated by Fumiya.

Andre said he had no recollection of some parts of the previous night, particularly when he and Lou were kissing while lying down on an inflatable floater.

Andre and Lou discussed what had transpired, and clarified that neither has ill feelings about how they behaved. Andre did say sorry, however, saying he had intended to kiss Lou only when they would become official.

“I don’t want to rush things,” he told Kuya in the confession room. “I do want me and Lou to be strong with time before we can move on to another step.

Lou, for her part, explained her openness to Andre, telling Kuya that she had only recently been hurt after a failed romance. She said she was the “rebound” of a man who had separated from his girlfriend, but when the latter two patched things up, Lou was left behind.

“Nasaktan ako, siyempre. Nawala [‘yung sakit] nu’ng na-meet ko si Andre. Kasi may tao palang kayang piliin ako,” she said.

On Twitter, where the episode become the No. 1 trending topic as it aired, viewers’ reactions were mixed, showing an apparent divide between those preferring traditional courtship and those who pointed out the progressive culture of dating in recent years. (ABS-CBN News)
