ILOILO City – Parents and teenaged children in Molo district gathered in a forum aimed at averting gang violence.
The Parent-Child and Youth Forum was held on Sunday at the gymnasium in Barangay Katilingban.
Participants came from barangays Avanceña, Katilingban, North San Jose, Poblacion, South San Jose, and Tap-oc.
The following offices organized the forum:
* Local Council for the Protection of Children headed by Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog
* City Social Welfare and Development Office – Molo district headed by Merlyn Egalam Gison
* Molo police station’s Women and Children Protection Desk under Chief Inspector Marlon Valencia
* Barangay Council for the Protection of Children
Gison said the event was also part of preparations for the Dinagyang Festival this coming weekend.
“Dinagyang is fast approaching, and we cannot afford to have any of our children get involved in chaos,” she said on Facebook. “This is also a way of promoting a peaceful and safe celebration.”/PN
