Monfort: PBA All-Star stint ‘dream come true’

MONFORT. Being a part of the annual PBA All-Stars is “a dream come true.”

MANILA – NLEX Road Warriors guard Emman Monfort is grateful for being part of the PBA All-Stars Visayas team that will play in the Visayas leg of the 2018 PBA All-Stars on May 27 in Iloilo City.

To be part of the annual league festivity, which will be held at the University of San Agustin Gym, is “a dream come true,” the diminutive Ilonggo guard told Panay News.

“It is more special since it will be held in my hometown, Iloilo City,” the former Ateneo Blue Eagles point guard said.

“I was part of the PBA All-Stars before but only on the skills challenge,” he said. “I just want to thank God, the PBA, Commissioner Willie Marcial, and all Ilonggos for this opportunity.”

The 5-foot-6 Monfort will be one of six Western Visayas-based players in the PBA All-Stars Visayas team.

Others are fellow Ilonggos Jericho Cruz and Kiefer Ravena, and Negrenses James Yap, Jeffrei Chan and Joe Devance.

June Mar Fajardo, Gregory Slaughter, Paul Asi Taulava, Joseph Quiñahan, Terrence Romeo, and Chris Ross are also part of the Visayas squad to be handled by Chito Victolero.

Composing the Gilas Pilipinas squad are Japeth Aguilar, Jeth Troy Rosario, Carl Bryan Cruz, Rey Mark Belo, Gabe Norwood, Matthew Wright, Allein Maliksi, Roger Pogoy, Jiovani Jalalon, Jayson Castro, and Calvin Abueva.

This will be the second time this year that the PBA is visiting Iloilo City after the out-of-town game between San Miguel Beermen and TNT KaTropa in January, also at the San Agustin Gym./PN
