A REVAMPED Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts snagged the Pontevedra Volleyball Festival title by beating Trinity Christian School 25-21, 25-18 in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.

Newcomer Erika Deloria proved to be the thorn on the side of her former team as she spearheaded Thunderbolts’ offense in the Under 17 girls tournament Friday night.

Deloria was named Most Valuable Player of the two-day games.

Also getting citations were her teammates Kiesha Bedonia (Best Blocker), Rhean Almendralejo (Best Setter), Alyssa Bertolano (Best Spiker), and Beatrice Decena (Best Libero).

“I must admit there’s added motivation for me facing my former team in the finals,” Deloria said.

“I have much respect for (Trinity) because they also did a part in the development of my volleyball skills,” she added.

On its way to the finals Tay Tung defeated University of St. La Salle Stingers 25-22, 25-10. Trinity ousted Living Stones International School in the other semifinal match.
