ILOILO City – MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) launched its first coffee table book on Tuesday, “Illuminating Iloilo: MORE Power’s Grounding Milestones”, which chronicles the utility firm’s transformation of power distribution services in Iloilo City since it took over operations in 2020.
The event further marked another major milestone in its expansion plans with the groundbreaking of its future corporate tower, underscoring the utility firm’s long-term investment in Iloilo and confidence in the region’s continued growth.
MORE Power president and chief executive officer Roel Z. Castro said the book and the envisioned corporate tower reflect the company’s mission of delivering better power services to consumers.
“MORE Power wants to give efficient and affordable electricity for the Ilonggos,” Castro said.
MORE Power chairman Stephen George A. Paradies said the book captures the company’s transformation and the collective efforts behind it.
“This book captures not only the milestones of MORE Power but also the collective effort of our employees, partners, and stakeholders who helped transform the power distribution system in Iloilo. It is a story of resilience, innovation, and our commitment to serving the Ilonggos,” Paradies said.
The coffee table book documents MORE Power’s infrastructure investments, anti-electricity pilferage campaign, system loss reduction initiatives, customer service improvements, and corporate social responsibility programs, showcasing the company’s vision of powering progress in Iloilo for generations to come.
Meanwhile, the ceremonial groundbreaking of the MORE Power Tower, coupled with the unveiling of its façade design, highlighted the company’s vision for sustained modernization and deeper engagement in the city’s development as it enters its sixth year of operations.
Held under the theme “Grounded on the Past, Geared for the Future,” the launching yesterday brought together government officials, energy sector leaders, business stakeholders, and company executives.
The event also featured the premiere screening of the short film “The Story of MORE Power,” which traced the company’s journey from assuming Iloilo City’s power distribution operations to becoming one of the country’s most recognized private utilities.
Lone District of Iloilo City’s Rep. Julienne “Jam-jam” Baronda cited the company’s contribution to improving power reliability and supporting economic growth in the city.
Messages of support were likewise delivered by Iloilo’s Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. and Iloilo City’s Mayor Raisa Treñas, both emphasizing the role of strong public-private partnerships in advancing development.
Treñas welcomed the construction of the MORE Power Tower, describing it as another symbol of the company’s commitment to Iloilo City’s modernization.
She said MORE Power has evolved into a key development partner, helping support infrastructure initiatives and improve the quality of life of residents through more reliable power services.
“To achieve this vision, strong and reliable partners remain essential. We look to MORE Power not only as a service provider, but as a vital development partner that will continue to support Iloilo City through innovation, infrastructure upgrades, renewable energy initiatives, sustainability programs, and responsive service delivery,” she said.
“Through strong partnerships and a common vision, let us continue powering the City of Progress toward even greater heights,” she added.
Cong. James “Jojo” Ang of the Uswag Ilonggo party-list, Department of Energy’s Secretary Sharon Garin, and Energy Regulatory Commission c hairperson and Chief Executive Officer Francis Saturnino C. Juan also extended congratulatory messages during the event./PN
