MANILA – Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels stayed alive in the MPVA 2024 Season semifinals with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 victory against Bacoor City Strikers on Monday night at the Strike Gym in Bacoor, Cavite.
Negrense Erika Jin Deloria spearheaded the offense with 16 points, built on 14 attacks and two blocks, as the Volley Angels negated the twice-to-beat advantage of the Strikers to force a do-or-die semis game.
According to the former Bacolod Tay Tung High School standout, the Volley Angels were determined to extend the series as they wanted to keep their championship aspirations alive and also to finally score a victory against the Strikers.
“Para sa amin kasi, hindi kami papayag na i-ganon (talunin) kami, and may gusto rin kaming i-prove sa sarili namin, and we also want to win,” Deloria said during her Player of the Game interview.
“Very determined kami kasi, never kami nanalo sa Bacoor and ang goal talaga namin is championship, and as long as may chance, gagawin namin ‘yung lahat,” she added. “Lahat talaga kami nag-grow dito sa journey namin sa MPVA.”
The defending champions Strikers has a twice-to-beat incentive in the semifinals round after finishing the double-round eliminations at second place.
Meanwhile, Quezon Tangerines regained their offense at the right time as they ousted Rizal St. Gerrard Charity Foundation, 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 19-25, 15-10, in the semifinals round.
Aya Densing anchored the Tangerines’ scoring with 29 points, from 28 attacks and one block, as they secured the first seat in the championship round.
“Madami kaming naging errors nung third and fourth sets and wala din kaming first ball kaya medyo nahirapan ‘yung mga spikers namin,” Densing said during her Player of the Game interview.
“’Yun siguro ‘yung mga mistakes na kailangan naming ma-address as we move on to the championship round, and also kailangan namin ma-maintain ‘yung kumpiyansa namin,” she added./PN
