ILOILO City – A police officer was ordered dismissed by the National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6 for the death of a man three years ago.
Police Officer 3 Angelino Lusaya, assigned at the Police Regional Office’s (PRO-6) crime laboratory, received his dismissal order yesterday at Napolcom’s Western Visayas office.
He was found guilty of grave misconduct, said Napolcom hearing officer and spokesperson, Allen Camering.
Lusaya was tagged in the September 2013 shooting of civilian Joan Sogoan in Barangay Wari-wari, New Lucena, Iloilo.
Sogoan was shot in front of Lusaya’s house around 9:25 p.m., according to Napolcom, citing the administrative complaint of the victim’s wife, Susan, for grave misconduct.
A 12-gauge shotgun was used on Sogoan.
Lusaya was reportedly charged criminally in court, too, but was allowed to post bail.
Napolcom found Lusaya guilty of grave misconduct.
“I was the hearing officer of the case. After we found him guilty of grave misconduct, we sent our decision to our central office and they reaffirmed our decision. It was the Napolcom en banc that made the final decision,” said Camering.
Camering, however, said Lusaya can still file a motion for reconsideration within 10 days from yesterday./PN
