ILOILO City – The National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6 made an unannounced inspection of three police stations in this city.

The goal was to check the readiness of policemen, said Allen Camering, Napolcom-6 pre-charge investigator.

The inspection on Tuesday (Nov. 14) covered the district police stations of Mandurriao, La Paz and Jaro.

Among others, Napolcom inspectors checked the policemen’s areas of assignment, firearms and the police station’s equipment.

“We also checked the records of police stations and their cleanliness,” said Camering.

Some members of the three police stations were not around at the time of the inspection. Camering said these policemen would be asked to explain.

“We observed that some detention cells were not clean and did not have enough ventilation,” said Camering.

Napolcom is an agency under the Department of the Interior and Local Government responsible for the administration and control of the Philippine National Police. It has the authority to administer police entrance examination, to investigate police anomalies and irregularities, and to summarily dismiss erring police officers.

On Feb. 3, 2017 Napolcom created the Public Assistance Unit (PAU) to monitor and investigate police anomalies / irregularities in line with the Commission’s thrust to attend more promptly and act expeditiously on all complaints emanating from all multi-media platforms.

PAU is tasked to receive complaints and take appropriate actions, dispatch IMIS personnel to monitor, validate and investigate legitimate reports/complaints within 24 hours from receipt thereof./PN
