ILOILO City – Jesus “Jing-jing” Espinosa Jr., ranked No. 2 in the Iloilo City Police Office – Police Station 1’s list of suspected drug personalities in the City Proper, claimed Councilor Plaridel Nava twice had a meeting with suspected drug lord Melvin “Boyet” Odicta Sr. in 2014 and 2015.
Espinosa made the disclosure yesterday when he surrendered to serve his eight-year prison sentence for frustrated murder. He admitted being close to Odicta who was shot to death by still unidentified assassins in August.
Nava confirmed the two meetings with Odicta but clarified what those were about. He said it wasn’t a friendly meeting.
“It was to confront him with his serious threats against Nelson Golez whom I consider my second father,” said Nava.
Golez is a businessman. Nava said he accompanied Golez to those two meetings.
Nava recalled the first meeting at Odicta’s Red Paprika restaurant in Barangay San Rafael, Mandurriao district in late 2014 and the second meeting at the garage of Odicta’s Melvin Taxi units last Jan. 14, 2015.
According to Nava, Odicta had threatened Golez.
Odicta suspected Golez to be the one working out for the arrest of a certain drug pusher in the City Proper, said Nava.
“Nakalab-ot sa amon ang information especially kay Mr. Nelson Golez nga may gin-hire si Boyet Odicta nga gun-for-hire para sa iya. Na-alarma si Golez, gin ayo ‘ya ako nga updan s’ya sa pag-istorya kay Boyet Odicta,” said Nava.
Nava said a retired colonel served as bridge for the two meetings.
“Gin updan ko si Mr. Nelson Golez. Pag abot namon sa Paprika, gin-confrontar ni Tito Nelson (si Odicta) nga-a ginapapatay s’ya? Ano iya atraso? Ano ang iya problema,” Nava disclosed.
While they were talking, said Nava, Espinosa arrived and joined them.
Golez sought a second meeting, said Nava, because the businessman continued to receive information that Odicta was still mad at him.
“May mga info nga gadumot gyapon si Odicta sa iya so gin tawgan naman ako ni Tito Nelson. Advise ko sa iya istoryahon mo s’ya liwat. Kadtuan s’ya liwat, prangkahon ta s’ya kon ano gid gusto ‘ya matabo,” said Nava.
The councilor said he was concerned of Golez.
“Tito Nelson is like a father to me. He considers me his son, too. Alangan pabay-an ko s’ya,” said Nava./PN
