BACOLOD City – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is looking into the death of a pregnant woman and the twins she was bearing in the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).
Mary Joy Geronca and her twins died in the CLMMRH on Jan. 17 due to alleged negligence of the hospital staff.
Jose Cesar Penario, father of Geronca, also complained at the NBI on Monday, said the local bureau chief Renato Garbo III.
Earlier Penario sought the help of Task Force Crusaders, an anticrime group operating under the Office of the Solicitor General.
Geronca has been pregnant for 34 weeks already when she was taken to the regional hospital.
According to Penario, his daughter was not immediately attended to while undergoing labor.
Task Force Crusaders national commander Romeo Maganto asked the Department of Health to investigate the incident.
Dr. Julius Drilon, chief of hospital, denied that the CLMMRH staff had been negligent.
He insisted that they did everything they can to save Geronca, a resident of Barangay 10, and her twins./PN
