MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday issued a subpoena for Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio for her “kill threat” against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Ferdinand “Martin” Romualdez.
The subpoena was served to the Office of Vice President in Mandaluyong City. Duterte-Carpio was directed to appear before NBI on Friday to clarify her threat.
The Vice President made the kill remark during a press conference on early Saturday.
On Tuesday, she clarified that her “kill threat” had “no flesh on the bone” and she found it surprising that the Marcos administration took her statement out of logical context.
“The Marcos administration’s insistence that the President’s life is under active threat is ominous,” Duterte-Carpio said in a statement sent to Panay News.
She added: “Despite the absence of a reliable investigation, authorities were quick to consider this a national security concern.”
Duterte-Carpio also said that the administration did not act this way when she raised publicly about the threats she and her people were receiving month ago.
“The diametric contrast and inaction are displayed when I have expressed in previous months threats to my person and continuing threats to the life of OVP personnel,” Duterte-Carpio said.
The Vice President also mention that the administration’s constant use of the word “assassin”, which she did not mentioned during her rant, are making things worse.
“Tossing the word ‘assassin’ into this issue makes things even more terrifying – and especially because I never used that term during my recent consternation against the Marcos administration’s failure to serve the Filipinos while it masterfully persecutes political enemies,” she said.
“Common sense should be enough for us to understand and accept that a supposed conditional act of revenge does not constitute to an active threat. This is plan without a flesh,” Duterte-Carpio added./PN
