Nearly P2M worth of shabu seized in Iloilo City in one day

ILOILO City – Around 280 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately P1,904,000 were confiscated in separate anti-illegal drug operations in this city on Tuesday, May 14.

The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) apprehended 50-year-old Michael Gullo of Barangay Santa Cruz, Arevalo district, at a lodging house in the district’s Barangay Sto. Niño Norte at 5:45 p.m.

RPDEU said 220 grams of alleged illegal substance with an estimated market value of P1,496,000 were recovered.

Almost five hours later, the operation conducted by the elements of Iloilo City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) yielded around 60 grams of suspected shabu valued at P408,000.

Suspect Jercel Ajeto, a resident of Zone 2, Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district, was caught around 10:30 p.m. in Barangay Kauswagan, City Proper district.

Seized were a total of 16 heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, P18,000 buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.

Both suspects, tagged as high-value targets, are now detained. They are facing charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
