BACOLOD City – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson of Negros Occidental would likely support Senate President Vicente Sotto III who is running for vice president in the 2022 elections.
Lacson is a member of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) whose chairman is Sotto.
He, however, clarified that mayors in the province are free to choose which candidate to support.
Sotto is the running mate of Sen. Panfilo Lacson (Partido Reporma) who is seeking the presidency.
The filing of certificates of candidacy is next month, Oct. 1 to 8.
Lacson did not sign a manifesto of the League of Provinces of the Philippines supporting the candidacy of President Rodrigo Duterte for the vice presidency. Four governors in Region 6, on the other hand, have expressed support./PN
