BACOLOD City — The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has received multiple awards recognizing its outstanding fiscal performance, including the highest locally sourced revenue, exceptional collection efficiency, and remarkable fee collections in Western Visayas.
The province was cited for its exemplary fiscal performance, ranking Top 1 among provinces in Region 6 with the highest locally sourced revenue in fees and charges, the highest overall locally sourced revenue, and the highest collection efficiency in economic enterprises. It also placed Top 2 among the six provinces in the region with an 8 percent year-on-year growth rate in locally sourced revenues, with collections amounting to P68,762,360.50 from business tax and other taxes and P167,194,995.13 from real property tax for Calendar Year (CY) 2024.
Additionally, Negros Occidental ranked Top 3 with a 2 percent year-on-year growth rate in business tax and other taxes, a 12 percent growth rate in economic enterprises, a total collection of P293,176,015.57 in locally sourced revenue from economic enterprises for CY 2024, and a 92 percent collection efficiency in business tax and other taxes.
In a statement posted on its official social media page, the provincial government reported that Negros Occidental generated P1.34 billion in locally sourced revenue in 2024 and achieved 102% collection efficiency in its economic enterprises. It also recorded P809.4 million in fees and charges, underscoring the effectiveness of the Provincial Treasurer’s Office led by Provincial Treasurer Atty. Amy Grace Bolivar.
The Plaques of Recognition were presented by the Department of Finance–Bureau of Local Government Finance (DOF-BLGF) Region VI Director Maria Rhodora Gascon on October 9 in Iloilo City.
The provincial government attributed the notable increase in locally sourced revenues to the strong collection performance of the Economic Enterprise Development Department and the fiscal discipline of its revenue-generating offices./PN
