BACOLOD City – The Regional Development Council (RDC) of Western Visayas conducted a dialogue with local chief executives in Negros Occidental at the Bacolod City Government Center.
The dialogue, held on Sept. 15, discussed the return of Negros Occidental to Western Visayas after the Negros Island Region’s abolition.
The public officials were made to present their project proposals and identify the needs of their local government units.
National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Region 6 director Ro-ann Bacal, who is also the vice chairperson of the RDC, said the presence of representatives from national government agencies will help raise the concerns of local government units to the national government.
Marlin Sanogal, provincial planning and development officer, and Mary Jane Ramos, city planning and development officer, presented the list of projects which needed funding.
The projects cited were included in the regional investment program of Western Visayas, said Bacal.
But even if approved, priority projects in Negros Occidental will not be covered by the 2018 budget.
“They will be included in the 2019 to 2022 budget,” Bacal clarified./PN
