BACOLOD City – A beauty queen from Negros Occidental sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) over a lewd video with her face superimposed on to another woman’s.
The video was suspected to be edited using “deepfake” technology, wherein a person in an existing image or video is replaced with someone else’s likeness.
The NBI chief in this city, Atty. Renoir Baldovino, said the complainant went to their office on Thursday.
Baldovino said they would tap NBI’s cybercrime division in Manila.
The victim was also told to submit further evidence to support their ongoing investigation, while a complaint had already been filed against the still unidentified suspect.
Baldovino also warned those spreading the link of the video that they can face cybercrime-related charges./PN
