NEGRENSE Margueritte Therese Cala-or made her presence felt in the international stage after taking home two medals in the 20th Milo International Open Karate Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Bacolod Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts standout captured a gold medal in the girls individual kumite (-35 kilogram category) before settling for a silver medal finish in girls individual kata (10-11 years old).
“Margueritte is one of our talented athletes in Bacolod Tay Tung High School. With proper training, she will have a bright future in karatedo,” Bacolod Tay Tung team manager Jose Montalbo said.
Prior to her international glory, Cala-or also showed her wares locally when she bagged a gold medal in the 8-9 years old advance kata in karatedo event of the 2018 Batang Pinoy National Finals in Baguio City.
Cala-or also won two gold medals in the karatedo event of Philippine Sports Commission Visayas Open 2018 Iloilo leg. She also has two golds in the 38th NOPSSCEA karatedo event last year./PN
