BACOLOD City – Enterprises in Negros Occidental are encouraged by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to go into franchising to expand their business.
Engiemar Tupas, senior trade and industry development specialist of DTI-Negros Occidental, said Thursday that through franchising, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can have the opportunity to grow.
The country’s flourishing franchising industry also contributes to the development of the local economy by generating more jobs, he said.
As part of the DTI’s efforts to assist MSMEs, it will initiate a free seminar on how to franchise business with franchising guru Armando Bartolome as the resource speaker at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City on April 26.
The seminar seeks to promote business operations expansion through franchise system, and provide participants the insight and tools to be able to get a good franchise business, the DTI added.
Target participants are those with products and services ready for franchise, or who are willing to have a franchise of various brands.
Tupas also urged MSMEs in Negros Occidental to look into franchising opportunities by participating in seminars during the Franchise Asia Philippines 2017 on July 21 to 23 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
He said markets of most local MSMEs were limited within the province thus, joining in the event would equip them to expand.
“The activity will link local enterprises to national and international firms which might open doors for partnerships and other business ventures,” Tupas said, adding that MSMEs in the province could be potential franchisees of these huge companies.
The annual event, which mainly includes trade show, is initiated by the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA).
As part of PFA’s advocacy to promote highly franchisable MSMEs, the association said it was offering a special rate of P5,000 for a four-square meter booth to interested participants.
Tupas said the amount was even cheaper than other national and international fairs which offer the same opportunities for business development.
“Negrense MSMEs should consider the amount as small start-up capital that may help them achieve their desired business growth,” he added. (PNA)
