BACOLOD City – More than P2 million worth of livelihood projects were turned over to farmers and fisherfolk associations in this province during a ceremony that was held at the provincial capitol grounds here.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist in this region facilitated the release of the projects. It will also conduct the monitoring of the implementation.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson, with Board Member and Committee on Agriculture chair Andrew Montelibano, spearheaded the turnover of the projects and items distributed to the farmers and fisherfolk.
Barangay Palampas Women’s Association, Barangay Codcod United Women’s Association, and Barangay Ermita Whitesand Women’s Association – all from San Carlos City – received P100,000 for the Rice and Corn Marketing Retailing Project, Agricultural Input Marketing and Retailing Project, and Agricultural Commodity Marketing Project, respectively.
On the other hand, the Pandanon Integrated Balangon Farmers Association and Pandanon Integrated Upland Small Farmers Association, all from the town of Don Salvador Benedicto, obtained P100,000 and P125,000 for Agricultural Inputs Retailing Project and Agricultural Food Processing Project, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Litib-Litib Fishermen Association of Victorias City acquired P150,000 for the Fishery Based Livelihood Project; Sitio Dacutan Daku Fisheries Village Association of Silay City got P150,000 for Upscaling of Fermented Shrimp Paste; and Taloc Baybay Fishermen Association of Bago City was presented P200,000 for the Blue Swimming Crab Trading Project.
The MALAM Fisherfolk Association of Pontevedra town received P100,000 for the Bangus Deboning and Trading Project; Gargato Fishers and Fish Driers Association of Hinigaran town got P110,000 for the Support to Dried Fish Production; and PRIMO Brotherhood Association of Binalbagan was gifted with P150,000 for the Fish Processing Livelihood Project.
A total of 16 fisherfolk associations from the cities of San Carlos, Victorias, Silay, Talisay, Bago, and Himamaylan, alon with the municipalities of Binalbagan, Hinigaran and Ilog also received fishing nets worth P899,601.00.(With a report from PIA/PN)
