BACOLOD City – The fantasy adventure “Magikland” reaped a good harvest of six awards at the 46th Metro Manila Film Festival’s (MMFF) virtual “Gabi ng Parangal” on Sunday night.
Among the awards it received included the FPJ Memorial Award and Special Jury Prize for its creator and executive producer, the late Negrense director Peque Gallaga.
The Best Musical Score was awarded to Emerzon Texon, the film’s music composer.
The MMFF also awarded Richard Francia and Ryan Grimarez/Central Digital Lab for Best Visual Effects, while the film’s Production Designer Ericson Navarro bagged the Best Production Design.
Magikland also garnered the Best Virtual Float.
During the film’s special screening last week attended by select members of the media, the late filmmaker’s family and friends became emotional with Gallaga not even witnessing his finished work.
The film also featured a scene of Gallaga’s visual effects model, where he took a final bow that earned the applause of the audience.
Around P150 million was spent for the film and its state-of-the-art visual effects, which took almost two years to complete.
Plans are now being made for the film to become available on Netflix soon./PN
