ILOILO City – The terms of two directors of the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) are ending this Dec. 31, 2016.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. confirmed he must name two appointees on or before Dec. 15.
The two directors with expiring terms were qualified for reappointment, he said, but did not say if he had decided already. They were Atty. Juanito Acanto and Dr. Jessica Salas.
Acanto represents the professional sector in the MIWD Board while Salas represents the women’s sector.
In a letter dated Nov. 9, MIWD submitted to Defensor a list of nominees. It included Acanto and Salas.
The nomination is pursuant to Presidential Decree 198 (Provincial Water Utilities Act of 1973). Defensor is the appointing authority.
An MIWD director has a term of six years.
Defensor appointed Acanto and Salas to the MIWD Board in January 2015. They replaced Engr. Adrian Moncada and Bernadette Castellano, respectively./PN
