SAN JOSE, Antique – A disaster resilient evacuation center was recently inaugurated in Barangay Unino, Libertad, Antique.

The evacuation center costs P3.2 million and was financed through the Bottom-up Budgeting (BUB) program of the government.

The center is designed to serve as temporary dwelling place for evacuees in times of disaster, said Information Officer Judy Mae Magdato.

The center can accommodate over 100 individuals. It is equipped with basic amenities like potable water, electricity, comfort rooms, bedrooms, a communal kitchen, and dining and laundry areas.

The center’s design maximizes natural light and ventilation to reduce the need for electric power, which often fails in times of disaster.

The center is among the 738 projects under the BUB program in Antique from 2014 to 2016. (PIA/PN)
