MAKATO, Aklan – Team New Washington Athletics emerged as overall champion in the athletics event of the 2019 Aklan Provincial Meet held at the Aklan Sports Complex here.
Christian Ote was the most bemedalled athlete in the Provincial Meet for the second straight year. He bagged four golds and a silver medal for the New Washington athletics team.
A standout of New Washington National Comprehensive High School, Ote captured his gold medals in the 100-meter dash, discus throw, javelin throw and 4×100 relay while his silver came from the4x400 meter relay.
Marc Angelo Daroy, meanwhile, took home two medals – gold in 400-meter hurdles and silver in 400-meter dash.
John Lesther Valencia Dalida clinched a gold in 2000 meter walk.
Mark Christian Espino, on the other hand, had two silver medals in 110-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. He also settled for a bronze medal finish in the 400-meter dash.
Christian Villanueva, for his part, took home a silver medal in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Adrian Justin Engracial claimed the bronze medal in the triple jump event.
