ILOILO City – A subgroup of the Prevendido drug group is the next target, said Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag, regional police director, following the killing of drug lord Richard Prevendido.
The suspected leader of the subgroup is fugitive Ernesto Bolivar of Barangay Guinacas, Pototan, Iloilo.
Bolivar has a standing warrant of arrest. He was charged with violating the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after a buy-bust operation at his house on Nov. 9, 2016.
Bolivar managed to flee but operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the Police Regional Office 6’s Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group Focus Team 6, and Pototan police recovered a large plastic sachet of shabu.
Citing intelligence information, Binag described Bolivar as Prevendido’s “right-hand man” operating in central Iloilo and province of Capiz.
“Ang Bolivar drug group ang next natin na target. May lima pang grupo pero siya muna ang uunahin natin,” said Binag.
The PRO-6 is also targeting the Balume drug group, he added.
Fugitive Arturo Balume alias Master Pedic is the suspected leader of this group.
“I warn them not to fight back para hindi sila mamatay pareho ni Prevendido. Hindi naming gustong pumatay pero kapag hindi sila mag-surrender, hindi namin sila tatantanan,” said Binag.
Prevendo and son Jason died in a shootout with policemen on Sept. 1 in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district.
Judge Daniel Antonio Gerardo Amular of the Regional Trial Court Branch 35 issued on Jan. 6 the arrest warrant against Prevendido for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“We have been praying for this,” Binag said of the operation. “Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers.”
Over the past months, police raiding teams swooped down on various areas where Prevendido was possibly hiding, but to no avail:
- Crystal Cove Beach Resort in Barangay Igcadlum, San Joaquin, Iloilo, owned by Maria Mae Gregori, Prevendido’s niece and daughter of Barangay Captain Remia Gregori of Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City
