BACOLOD City – Even if more medical personnel are contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), health facilities in Negros Occidental have no manpower shortage, according to Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator.
As of yesterday, 73 COVID-hit healthcare workers were quarantined at the Mambukal Resort in Murcia town, 17 of which were healthcare workers from Isabela.
The workers got the infection at home rather than in their workplaces, Diaz said.
The provincial government is also continually hiring more nurses and has deployed additional medical personnel to quarantine facilities in Silay City and E.B. Magalona town.
As for hospital beds dedicated to COVID patients, the Valladolid District Hospital has seven available, or 89 percent occupancy rate; Cadiz District Hospital has four beds (95 percent occupancy); and the Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City has 23 beds (54 percent occupancy).
The ongoing renovation of the annex building of the Cadiz District Hospital to cater to COVID patients has also been stepped up./PN
