BACOLOD City – Government employees are prohibited from doing anything other than work-related tasks during office hours, according to City Assessor’s Office (CAO) head Maphilindo Polvora.
Civil service laws provide for that, Polvora told Panay News.
The department head said this in reaction to a photograph published in this section on Wednesday showing an unidentified CAO employee watching a video on an office computer on Monday.
Polvora said he was surprised when he saw the photo. He called the attention of its subject, Assessment Clerk III Xi Garcia.
While Garcia already explained to him, Polvora said he will refer the matter to the Human Resource Management Services.
He does not tolerate this kind of activities during office hours; it is not setting a good example, the CAO head said.
Polvora told Panay News Garcia explained that he was just taking a photo of something displayed on his office computer when a photojournalist took a shot of him.
It was quick, the CAO head said, citing Garcia.
The photograph showed a profile of an unidentified CAO employee watching a video on his office computer while transaction happens a few feet from him./PN
