BACOLOD City – Seven Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Negros Island Region personnel have been relieved.
One of them was allegedly involved in the sexual harassment of a female inmate in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Monday.
Their relief came on Wednesday, according to Inspector Mar Louie Salcedo, BJMP-Negros spokesperson.
Four from the Sipalay City District Jail were sacked: Jail Inspector Gerald Diano, warden; Senior Jail Officer 4 Benjie Dimasuhid, assistant warden; Jail Officer 1 Dexter Haylo; and Jail Officer 1 Jay Lemuel Recto.
Recto was tagged to the supposed sexual harassment. He and Diano were transferred to the BJMP-Negros headquarters; Dimasuhid, to the Bayawan District Jail; and Haylo, Kabankalan City District Jail.
All four were on duty at the time the alleged incident happened, said Salcedo.
As a result, Senior Jail Officer 3 Iris Barrera of Bayawan District Jail and Jail Officer 2 Anthony Olarte of Kabankalan City District Jail were transferred to Sipalay City.
Senior Inspector Angelito Almodiel Jr., from BJMP-Negros headquarters, was assigned to head the Sipalay jail as officer-in-charge.
Salcedo said they were still investigating the administrative liabilities of the four relieved Sipalay jail personnel./PN
