BACOLOD City – Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI) must get a building permit from the Office of the Building Official (OBO) first before it can build its water treatment plan and intake structure in Barangay Granada.
The OBO has yet to issue such permit to the BBWI as of press time.
The BBWI is the bulk water supplier of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).
OBO head Isidro Sun Jr. said they have not yet received the Resolution of No Objection (RONO) that the company got from the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Under City Ordinance (CO) No. 335, a RONO is a requirement in securing a building permit.
The city council issued the RONO on June 13.
CO No. 335 series of 2003 requires consultation with and clearance from barangay councils and the city government before any construction work on, along or beside esteros, canals and waterways, and similar passageways of water, as well as drainage systems.
The OBO already evaluated the documents the BBWI submitted except for the RONO.
On May 25 Sun issued the BBWI a Notice of Violation and ordered the halt of its construction work in Granada due to the lack of building permit.
The BBWI has until June 26 to supply its lacking requirements.
Councilors issued the RONO after local environment officers and engineers assured that the BBWI’s water treatment plant project in Bangga Bagul, Barangay Granada will not cause flooding in the area./PN
