No reappointment for ‘suplada’ employee

BACOLOD City – A city hall employee faces the possibility of not having her appointment renewed for discourtesy and arrogance.

A complaint was lodged with Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez via the “Isugid kay Mayor” program on Nov. 3, alleging that an employee at the City Civil Registry Office’s Window 3, which handles death certificate claims, behaved inappropriately.

Three individuals are stationed at Window 3: two women and one man, all of whom are temporary staff on job orders.

Hermilo Pa-oyon, the City Civil Registrar, said the male staff member was out attending to duties at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

“Only the two women were present at the time of the alleged discourteous incident yet neither has confessed to the misconduct,” Pa-oyon said.

He has invited the complainant to his office to identify the employee in question.

On Nov. Pa-oyon, along with the two women on temporary job orders, met with Mayor Benitez. “Despite the meeting, no one confessed. They insisted that they neither raised their voices nor exhibited anger towards anyone,” said the mayor.

Mayor Benitez has decided to review surveillance footage to determine the facts.

“Should the evidence point to guilt, we have no grounds for renewing their contracts,” he said, emphasizing the city’s need for competent and courteous staff.

“We will initiate a thorough investigation if we receive any more complaints of this nature ,” he  added.

In the interim, the two employees have been reassigned to the records section, according to Pa-oyon./PN
