BACOLOD City – A 51-year-old police officer became Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office’s (NOCPPO) casualty to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The policeman with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant died while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH), according to Lieutenant Wilma Silva, NOCPPO deputy public information officer.
Silva said the cop was assigned at the municipal police station of Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
On Oct. 28, he complained to his family he was not feeling well and was initially brought to an emergency center in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.
The NOCPPO personnel was later transferred to the CLMMRH.
On Oct. 30, his condition continued to deteriorate and he slipped into coma.
That same day, his swab test result came out showing he had COVID-19.
The cop continued to receive treatment at the CLMMRH, but he succumbed to a mild stroke on Nov. 3.
Over all, NOCPPO has more than 20 COVID-infected personnel – all of them recovered from the disease and even donated their convalescent plasma for critically-ill COVID-19 patients in Negros Occidental./PN
