NOCPPO: Zero serious incidents during Holy Week

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) said on Sunday they did not record any serious incidents in the province during this year’s Holy Week observance.

According to NOCPPO’s Public Information Office, 11 incidents were recorded involving the eight focus crimes: one theft incident, four incidents of physical injury, and six murder cases since March 25, Holy Monday.

Other notable incidents that occurred during the Holy Week observance included nine vehicular accidents, four drowning incidents, three fire incidents, one case of electrocution, and one suicide case.

Amid the Holy Week observance, NOCPPO units still carried out several law enforcement operations in the province, resulting in 11 drug-related arrests, 10 gambling-related arrests, and five arrests due to illegal possession of firearms.

NOCPPO also managed to apprehend three most wanted persons and six other wanted persons.

Overall, however, the observance of Holy Week was generally peaceful due to the public’s strict compliance and effective police deployments led by NOCPPO’s director Colonel Rainerio De Chavez. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
